Bangladeshi freelancers work on all the big international marketplaces, but fees, withdrawal options and waiting times differ a lot. PayPal does not serve Bangladesh and Wise does not give USD account details to residents, so how you get paid matters as much as where you find work. Below are five platforms, with what each charges and how the money reaches a Bangladeshi bank or mobile wallet.

Top Freelance Platforms
1. Upwork — Best for Long-Term Clients
Upwork has the widest range of long-term and hourly work. The fee is 0-15% per contract: you see it before you send a proposal or accept an offer, and it stays fixed for that contract. Proposals cost Connects ($0.15 each). Upwork pays to a Bangladeshi bank in BDT ($0.99 per withdrawal, minimum $5, up to 4 business days); for bKash, withdraw through Payoneer. - Complete your profile 100 percent including portfolio, skills tests, and video introduction
- Start with smaller projects to build reviews
- Specialize — clients prefer specialists over generalists
- Write personalized proposals for every job application
2. Fiverr — Best for Quick Gigs
Fiverr works on gigs: you list a service and buyers come to you, which suits designers, video editors, writers and translators. Fiverr keeps 20% of each order. Earnings clear 14 days after an order is completed, and you withdraw through Payoneer (bank transfer from $20). PayPal appears in Fiverr’s list but does not work in Bangladesh.
3. Freelancer.com — Projects and Contests
Freelancer.com mixes ordinary projects with contests where you submit work first and get paid if chosen. The fee is 10% or $5, whichever is higher, on fixed-price projects and contests, and you need at least $20 in your account before you can bid. Express Withdrawal pays out in BDT ($1, minimum $50); the first withdrawal is held for 15 days.
4. 99designs — For Graphic Designers
99designs (by Vista) is built around design contests and 1-to-1 projects, and you apply as a designer first. On 1-to-1 projects the fee is 15%, 10% or 5% depending on your level, and in some cases 20% of the first $500 with each new client. Since 1 February 2026 payouts go only through Hyperwallet, with a $25 minimum.
5. Toptal — For Experienced Specialists
Toptal does not take a cut of your rate, but you join only after a screening process that takes several weeks. It suits experienced developers, designers and finance specialists, and its public profiles include members based in Dhaka.

The freelancers earning top rates invest in continuous learning. Platforms like UdemyAd offer affordable courses in high-demand skills like React, Python, UI/UX design, and digital marketing. For data science and analytics skills, 365 Data ScienceAd provides structured learning paths that take you from beginner to job-ready in Python, SQL, and machine learning. Additionally, consider platforms like Coursera and edX for university-backed courses that can further enhance your credentials.
Getting Paid in Bangladesh
- Upwork: local bank in BDT ($0.99, minimum $5); bKash only through Payoneer; a new payout method becomes active after 3 days.
- Fiverr: Payoneer (bank transfer from $20, or a Payoneer account from $10).
- Freelancer.com: Express Withdrawal in BDT ($1, minimum $50) or Payoneer in USD.
- PayPal does not serve Bangladesh, and Wise does not give USD account details to residents of Bangladesh, even though both appear in platform menus.
- Cash incentive: for fiscal year 2026-27 Bangladesh Bank pays 2.5% on freelance software and IT-service export earnings (circular FEPD-1 no. 17, 5 July 2026); ask your bank.
- Tax: IT freelancing income is exempt until 30 June 2027 if all its income, expenses and investments go through a bank (Income Tax Act 2023, Schedule 6). Keep a dedicated bank account for freelance income.
